HercuSleaze is Canada’s most acclaimed drag king, known for his exquisite looks and historically-inspired style. He can be seen as a contestant on season 1 of OutTV’s Call Me Mother where he broke down barriers as one of the few drag kings to appear on international television. At Montreal Pride 2022, Herc performed to an audience of 30k alongside icons and winners of RuPaul’s Drag Race. His instagram following places him among the top ten drag king accounts in the world. Inspired by history, fantasy and mythology, he creates spellbinding performances, which often include a nerdy reference or two. A jack of all trades, Herc makes his own costume pieces and takes his own photographs.
Herc’s the patriarch of the House of Sleaze, the drag husband of Pythia, and proud papa of two drag sons. In his hometown of Montreal, HercuSleaze produces the live drag cabaret Mythos, showcasing the best weird and wonderful drag and casting artists under-recognized because of their gender. He also produces videos for virtual shows, does speaking engagements, and reads to kids at the Rainbow Story Hour. Others can learn from HercuSleaze online at the Drag Academy, where he has a pre-recorded course on everything you need to know to transform into a drag king.
Out of drag, Meags Fitzgerald is an art director and an award-winning graphic novelist. She’s internationally recognized for her feminist comics, which often pertain to queer identity. HercuSleaze was born out of a desire to play with, push, mock and question traditional representations of gender. Fitzgerald is a passionate advocate for better gender equality in the drag industry.
